چکیده
Wireless ad-hoc mesh networks are formed by integrat-ing peer-to-peer ad-hoc networks through a mesh ofmultihop long haul connectivity based on the IEEE802.11 Wi-Fi standard. Such networks have a tremen-dous flexibility of deployment and can be used to pro-vide high bitrate connectivity to areas which lack wiredinfrastructure. Securing such a network is a seriousconcern keeping in view the security limitations of theexisting security standards for IEEE 802.11 based net-works.This paper focuses on the provision of security forwireless ad-hoc mesh networks. This is a challengingtask keeping in view the stringent resource constraintsof typical mobile ad-hoc networks and the inherent vul-nerability of the wireless medium. We analyze the secu-rity requirements, propose the design and implementa-tion of suitable security measures for protecting thesenetworks and carry out a detailed performance anal-ysis for our implementations. Our proposed solutionis based on the central idea of Identity-based Cryp-tography which simplifies the network security design, caters for the resource constraints of such networks andreduces the overall system complexity.

A wireless ad hoc network typically refers to any set of wireless networks where all devices have equal status on a network and are free to associate with any other wireless ad hoc network devices in their range. As the nature of these networks, they commonly do not have external power supplies, and each node has a limited internal power source. In this paper, we put forward a new routing proto...

By extending wireless networks and because of their different nature, some attacks appear in these networks which did not exist in wired networks. Security is a serious challenge for actual implementation in wireless networks. Due to lack of the fixed infrastructure and also because of security holes in routing protocols in mobile ad hoc networks, these networks are not protected against attack...

The use of directional antennas in wireless ad hoc networks can significantly improve global performance due to a high spatial channel reuse. Nevertheless, its introduction poses new location dependent problems related to the MAC protocol. In this paper, the Balanced Incomplete Block Design theory has been exploited to develop a new MAC protocol for wireless ad hoc networks using directional ant...
